Senior girl in strapless white dress looking over shoulder with soft golden light in Utah Salt Flats

Hey there, friends! Today’s blog post is an incredibly special one, as it features the senior portrait session of my beautiful daughter, Alexa. This session was not just any senior shoot; it’s the final one we did as I’m dropping her off at college in a brand new city! And let me tell you, there was something so uniquely magical about it! I couldn’t just photograph my girl anywhere, and we ended up deciding to do her Senior Pictures at the Salt Flats in Utah!!! We had been to the Salt Flats one other time before just to do a fun destination shoot (which I’ll be posting soon)

A Perfect Location for My Girl

When it came to choosing a spot for Alexa’s final senior session, we knew it had to be something extraordinary. The Salt Flats in Utah were the perfect choice— One because I knew we both loved it from being there before and two because we thought it would be super special to merge together her high school memorabilia like her cords, medals, lacrosse gear, and her lettermen’s jacket at the location where her new journey would begin for college.

A Special Touch: Cap & Gown

What made this session even more meaningful was that we brought along Alexa’s cap and gown (and her graduation dress). There’s something so bittersweet about seeing your baby all grown up, dressed in that iconic outfit that symbolizes the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. Capturing Alexa in her cap and gown at the Salt Flats felt like the perfect way to honor all her hard work and celebrate the exciting adventures ahead.

On Her Way…

Alexa’s next adventure? Westminster University! She’ll be studying Sports Management and Business—two fields that perfectly align with her passions and drive. And of course, she’ll be suiting up to play for the D2 women’s lacrosse team—Go Griffins! I couldn’t be more proud of her and all that she’s accomplished. It’s both happy and sad moments seeing her off to college, but I know she’s going to thrive and make the most of every opportunity that comes her way.

Capturing the Moment

As a mom and a photographer, this session was so much more than just a photoshoot—it was a chance to savor these last moments before Alexa embarks on her new journey. We laughed, we laughed somem more, and we might have shed a few tears, but most of all, we made memories that will last a lifetime. I’m beyond grateful that we could capture Alexa’s spirit, determination, and excitement in such a stunning location (and better late than never right?).

Looking Ahead

While this session marks the end of Alexa’s high school journey, it’s also the start of something new and wonderful. I can’t wait to see where life takes her, and I’m so thankful to have these beautiful images to look back on. They’ll always remind me of this special time, filled with pride, love, and a little bit of that bittersweet feeling that comes with watching your baby grow up.

So, here’s to Alexa—my amazing daughter, future business leader, and fierce lacrosse player. Westminster is so lucky to have you, and I know you’re going to do incredible things. Go Griffins!
