Shaye : Newhall, California Senior Pictures

senior portraits taken in newall california by professional senior photographer tara rochelle

I am extremely excited to share Shaye’s Newhall, California senior pictures today! Shaye is currently a senior at Saugus High School and is part of their cheer team. Something you may not know about her is that she loves playing guitar, along with drawing and painting. Her favorite outfit on her shoot was the one with her white lace top, green skirt, and floral kimono, and I have to agree!! Although her third outfit is a very close second!

I absolutely loved photographing Shaye!! She is such a sweet bundle of joy and incredibly beautiful too. We had so much fun on this shoot here in Newhall in the Santa Clarita Valley. She chose to stay local with her senior pictures and I think they came out amazing! Never underestimate how awesome your pictures can turn out no matter where you decide to shoot them. Sometimes, senior pictures aren’t about where you are photographed, but just about capturing the moment, which I think we definitely did here with Shaye!

Q. College Major
A. Psychology

A. Cheer
Playing guitar
learning new instruments
drawing and painting

Q. What kind of look were you going for in your senior photos?
A. I wanted something that was my style, but way more fashionable. It was kind of a boho and modern mashup and I really loved how it turned out!

Q. How was your experience during your senior shoot?
A. I had so much fun during my shoot! I am the farthest from a professional model so I was very nervous, but as soon as we started shooting I couldn’t stop laughing because we were having so much fun! Tara made me feel so comfortable and made the whole experience amazing.

Q. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to anyone getting their senior photos taken?
A. One piece of advice I would give, is don’t be nervous, your pictures are going to come out amazing, so don’t hold back during your shoot and have so much fun with it!

Q. How many outfits did you take?
A. I brought a ton of outfits, but I used three outfits for my actual shoot.

Q. Would you have taken more or less, reasons why?
A. I think I would have brought more, just to have more of a choice with poses and everything, but I think the three we chose we versatile and showed my different styles.

Q. Did you accessorize differently with each outfit?
A. Yes I did, I brought different shoes and jewelry, and Tara added the cutest black hat to one of my outfits and I loved it. I would recommends bringing more than you think and stuff that you normally wouldn’t try, it adds to your pictures a lot!

Q. Any tips on how to prepare for the session or must have things to bring?
A. Definitely bring a bunch of different outfit choices and accessories, one of my favorite parts was picking out which outfits to wear with Tara. Also if you plan on wearing heels bring a pair of easy slip on shoes to walk around in, your feet will be sore, I made that mistake.

Q. Any tips on hair/makeup? Where did you get your inspiration for this? Did you bring in pictures or have a plan prior to your styling?
A. I came in with an open mind, I knew what general makeup inspiration I wanted but I was open to anything. When it came to hair we decided to use my natural hair which I wasn’t expecting because I’ve never been a huge fan of my hair, but the hair stylist, Sarah, added some extra curls and I loved it! It was very cool to have my mostly natural hair for my senior pictures.

Q. Did you find a store that had everything you were looking for?
A. I got most of my favorite pieces from Tilly’s! They have this new section called West of Melrose and I loved all the different outfits they had. I got both my skirts from there and my white lace top. They also have a great jewelry section with hair accessories and hats! They have a great variety of different styles. I also DIY-ed my band T-shirt with scissors and bleach, and It was one of my favorites.

Q. What ended up being your favorite outfit and why?
A. My favorite outfit was my Boho outfit with the white lace top, green skirt, and floral kimono. It looked so good in all the pictures, it wasn’t my normal style but it ended up being my favorite in pictures.

Q. Let’s talk about locations. What location(s) did you choose for your session? Why did you choose that location? Do you wish you would have gone some place different or would you suggest where you went?
A. We went to Newhall, I think it was a great place to shoot. There were so many different books and crafts to take pictures that Tara had me go, and it looks so amazing in pictures! We stayed within a few blocks and got so many different shots.

Q. Why did you choose Tara Rochelle to take your senior pictures?
A. I chose Tara because I love how her pictures turn out and I only hear great things from all her clients. I am so glad I got to do my senior portraits with her not only because she is a good friend, but because she makes all her clients feel so good when they take their pictures. A photographer can take amazing pictures, but Tara makes the experience so much more than that and that is what matters.
