Celeste’s Destination Senior Portraits in Southern California

I’m so excited to share Celeste’s destination senior portraits in Southern California! Celeste is a class of 2018 senior from Cole Valley Christian High School in Idaho. She came out to Beverly Hills with her dad to have me do her session and we had such a great time. When Celeste was first looking for a senior portrait photographer, she told me she was looking for something that was more modern and editorial which is exactly what I love! The clothes she brought for her destination senior portraits were absolutely perfect! I love that she brought a lot of variety with some dressy outfits, some more casual, and items from my favorite store- ZARA!!
I love spending the day getting to know my clients and learned that Celeste is hoping to attend Boise State University to major in nutrition and minor in linguistics! She also regularly serves at the Boise Rescue Mission which is super cool!  She loves to learn about fitness and working out, loves to paint in her free time, is learning Korean (hello! It’ll be her 3rd language!) and is has actively been learning French for 3 years. Celeste is also a gymnast and has been doing it since she was 4! Needless to say, Celeste is super smart, super talented, and was a rockstar in front of the lens! When I showed up with Wendy (my makeup artist), Celeste was dressed casual and I could tell right away she was super cute and would photograph great. What I did not know, was that the moment the camera came up, she totally transformed into a supermodel!! She nailed every pic and made shooting so much fun! When I can see that the subject is having a blast, that makes it even more fun for me!

  • Q. What kind of look were you going for in your senior photos?
    A. I was going for a unique Vogue style photoshoot. I have always loved Vogue and have been obsessed with it for as long as I can remember, and I felt like this style of photoshoot would be a perfect way to to express my own personal style with a bit of extra glam.
  • Q. How was your experience during your senior shoot?
    A. It was seriously one of the most fun times I’ve ever had in LA! Tara is so sweet and she made me feel so comfortable in front of the camera. I felt like a professional model during the shoot!! One of my favorite memories from the shoot was when I was posing in the middle of the street on Venice Beach! It was surreal.

  • Q. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to anyone getting their senior photos taken?
    A. Be creative with your shoot! Always trust your photographer, they can see the world in a different way than you can.
  • Q. How many outfits did you take?
    A. I had 5 outfits!
  • Q. Would you have taken more or less, reasons why?
    A. I think I took the perfect amount of clothes for my shoot.
  • Q. Did you accessorize differently with each outfit?
    A. I’m not a fan of accessories, so I didn’t use any!
I did bring 3 pairs of shoes for some variety though, I love shoes so it was hard to pick only 3 pairs from my closet.
  • Q. Did you take any props or try to incorporate any activities that you’re in?
    A. Nope!
  • Q. Any tips on hair/makeup? Where did you get your inspiration for this?
    A. I’m personally not a fan of dramatic or “heavy” makeup looks and I don’t wear a lot of makeup on the daily, so I asked Wendy to keep my makeup simple, with earth tones and such. I did have red lipstick for some of my photos, it was just a fun little pop of color that I liked!

    A. ZARA!! I love Zara so much, that’s where I get the majority of my clothes.
I got my sequin Adidas dress from Moschino, another favorite store of mine!!
I got my red off the shoulder bodysuit from Forever 21.
I don’t remember where I got my shoes, I’ve had them for awhile!
I can’t remember where I got my two piece blue and white set or my romper though, I don’t have tags on them.
  • Q. What ended up being your favorite outfit and why?
    A. My favorite outfit was definitely the two piece blue and white cropped top and high low skirt outfit!!
