So this may have been one of my most expensive photo shoots to date- let me explain. While driving around looking for parking on the way to the shoot, I see some poor sap getting pulled over by a bicycle cop. To which I reply to my hubby, “wow, that sucks! who gets pulled over by a bicycle cop? what a dummy” (no offense to the LAPD, of course). Well, we go around the block still looking and suddenly, I tell Ry to take a left and guess what- we get pulled over by a bicycle cop! NO LEFT TURN!! I’ll take full responsibility on this one because apparently my husband doesn’t know how to read and technically I told him to turn (and good husbands always listen no matter what right, ladies?).

So…I text my client to let her know that we’ll be a little late since we’re getting a ticket and there is this little voice inside of my head telling me “better tell her not to make a left off of Ventura”. Do I listen? Of course not. So a few minutes go by and Ry lets me know that the family is here. I look around and say “where are they?” and he says “right over there- they’re getting a ticket”!!! Argh!!

Lessons learned:

1.) Don’t talk smack about the ding dong that gets pulled over by the bicycle cop because you’re probably going to be next.

2.) When the little voice tells you to do something- DO IT!! (Unless of course it’s the “bad” voice, then maybe you should reconsider before proceeding).

I hope you have enjoyed my little story and despite all of that drama the shoot was a blast!! Can this family be any more beautiful? I mean seriously, gorgeous dad, smokin’ hot mama (even after two kids- yes, I’m a bit jealous), and two of the most adorable little boys!! Thanks again for another great shoot!!

Oh my goodness! Talk about some characters! These two have been married for a couple of years now and decided it was about time to get some new photos of the two of them together. So we did a couples session. Pretty much just like an engagement session only they already had the wedding! I had an absolute blast photographing them all around town. We went just about everywhere! We were shooting in an alley behind a fire station and to my surprise, we were invited in and they even lent us some rockin’ props!! How ironic that Kristin’s dad just happens to be a fireman!! I’m sure he got a kick out of those ones!! And how could I possibly resist the Obama and Palin cupcakes? (Like I’ve mentioned before- I’m way behind on blogging, so this shoot was before the election!) I thought I might die laughing when Kristin nonchalantly asked Stu “Wanna bite of Palin?”. You two crack me up!!

This beautiful girl happens to be the niece of my good friend in Missouri. I’ve always thought she was a pretty girl but now at 14- wow!! We had an awesome time shooting out in the snow, goofing off, and hanging out at the VW graveyard. Good stuff. Hope you love them Sanka!!

Missouri pt.2

Okay, so I was totally kidding in my last post about me not being able to get any good photos of our friends. I am a little surprised nobody made any comments to me (especially you- Amber!!). Not only did I get a few good shots, I think I got a ton of great shots!! With this beautiful of a family, how could I not?

Missouri

Every so often I think you meet certain people in life that just “get you”. These were those people for my family. We were both young parents that either had kids or were about to start a family when we met as new next door neighbors for our community. Well, after hanging out a few times (more like once), we realized we all loved each others company. We had countless impromptu game nights, our Survivor / CSI rituals on Thursday night (including our beloved “uniform” of navy t-shirts with “CSI” plastered across the front), and many, many other great times. Not to mention, my husband, Ryan, had now met his match with Fabe- another sports fanatic. It could get pretty ugly with chats about the Mariners and the Angels. But our boys hit it off and I officially began to call Fabe Ryan’s “wife” (yes, I am calling another woman’s husband, my husbands wife. After all, they saw each other more than we saw our own husbands!)

A couple years pass and I hear the devastating news that they’re thinking of moving….to Missouri. Now mind you, I’m no amazing geography wiz, but I do know one thing- it’s far away. Really far away. Way farther than next door!!!

Turns out, yes, they do move and Ry and I are crushed. How could this possibly be true? We decide right then and there that we have to promise to see each other at least once a year and keep in touch. Over 3 and a half years and so far, so good. Long story short.. The C’s may be many miles away but they’re always close in our thoughts and just a phone call away (but don’t forget about the time change). When we went there for our soon-to-be annual Missouri Thanksgiving, we had a super fun time- doing nothing. Isn’t that the best kind of vacation? Forget about hiking the Grand Canyon or busting your butt learning to surf, I’d much rather have a game of Cranium, crank out some Karaoke Revolution (with Fabe’s awesome rendition of The Reason), and kick back to watch a movie. They’re sooo my people!!

Of course, there was no way I could not take their family pics while we were out there and for those of you who saw our holiday card, you can thank Mr. Fabe for our pics (thank the Lord for manual exposure, fast lenses, and auto focus because he’s no Annie Leibowitz- if you don’t know who that is, try google- she’s incredible!!!). They have 3 of the most beautiful kids and we just love them all!! It’s so weird to see them each year and see how much they’ve grown. Just amazing… Here’s to great friends and great laughs.

It’s just such a shame the only good picture I could get was this one of their dog Libby…
