Monthly Archives: July 2012

Here is another of the beautiful ladies that came to Jasmine’s photo party for senior portraits out at Vasquez Rocks. Thank you Katie for being so patient and letting me play around with all of my new lighting stuff. Out there in the desert it is super tough to overpower the sun with just the Canon speed lights, so I brought out some big strobes for a few of the shots. LOVE the way these turned out. Since it was more of a fashion type look rather than your typical senior portraits, I thought using some extra lighting would be really fun to incorporate (fun for senior portraits too but often there is not enough time).

You can also view Courtney’s Senior Portraits that we also did out at Vasquez Rocks (right outside of Santa Clarita). I have found some amazing new places to photograph the senior sessions lately and can’t wait to feature some of those as well!!

Still have one or two spaces open for the month of July! Now is a great time to take advantage of the studios Senior Portrait Special!! Call in July to reserve your space and receive 40% off on two of our great sessions!! Both the Simplicity and the Portfolio sessions are both on sale!! Sessions need to be photographed in August, September, or October. You can call the studio at 1-800-995-TARA or send us over an email at tara@tararochelle.com and we’ll get you scheduled in for your own Senior Portraits or Portrait Party with some of your buddies!!

A 2012 Senior Model, Jasmine, did a senior portrait party with a group of her friends out in Vasquez Rocks. Super awesome place (although very bright and sunny in most spots) to shoot but I love to take photos over there. So we had a group of 4 pretty ladies and each girl was photographed separately, and all 4 in the group together. I’ll be posting the images of the other girls hopefully soon.

I played around a little bit with both OCF (off camera flash) using my Canon Speedlites and also with my big boys, the 800 AlienBees with a giant modifier. I still have a love hate relationship with these things. When they work, they’re amazing but when they don’t- OH So frustrating!!! The first image with the gorgeous blue sky was shot right in the bright sun and I used just my speedlites to try and overpower the sun to get the rich sky. The other images are all just using available light and that’s it. Special thanks go out to my friend, Crystal, for coming out and helping me!!

Courtney is a senior over at West Ranch High School and she did an amazing job on her makeup. I’m not usually a big fan of clients doing their own for a professional portrait session, but Courtney did great!! She knew how to mix colors to help make her eyes POP and play up her best features. I brought along some of my favorite accessories for each girl to use if they wanted for their mini shoots and had a blast. I think doing a session with a friend is an awesome way to make a super fun portrait session even better!! Enjoy!

So I know I already posted Miss Carmens video slideshow that featured pictures from both her first senior portraits model shoot in Downtown Los Angeles and the second session we did out in Santa Clarita, but I wanted to post some still images as well since some people don’t watch the videos ( I personally love them but that’s just me).

The images show here are just from her first session and I love them!! Just wanted a bit more variety so we set up the second shoot a few days later. The second shoot which I’ll be posting shortly was done all in Santa Clarita to utilize more of a natural look with some very pretty backlight and earthy tones..

Her mom came along with her to both of the sessions and helped at being a make-up artist, stylist, and photo assistant. So nice to have an extra set of hands to help out with things!! Turns out both her mom and I went to the same high school way back in the day in our hometown of Federal Way, Washington. What a small world!!

Thank you Miss Carmen and I hope you love them!!!

Here is another session you might enjoy of Liz photographed in Santa Clarita.

Check out our Senior Portrait Website for more information on our photoshoots. We travel all around the Los Angeles, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, and Santa Barbara areas to give each student something different and unique. We have specials all summer long on our sessions so be sure to give us a call or aemail us for more information on setting up your own senior portraits!
